Join us for the 2nd annual parade!
Saturday, June 14th, at 2p beginning and ending at Sellwood Park.
The Everything Under the Sun Parade is an annual community procession that celebrates the creative power of ordinary people. We aim to combat social isolation by cultivating deeper connections through developing large-scale puppets with community members. With a focus on inclusion and accessibility, the parade affirms that people make culture and community, strong community connections are essential for our collective well-being, and joy is a collective practice.
Led by a giant paper mache sun puppet and featuring a colorful array of puppets, costumes, and music, the parade embodies a spirit of art and community resilience. It draws inspiration from public processions like Bread and Puppet in Vermont and Heart of the Beast Puppet Theatre in Minneapolis. Anyone can join this neighborhood parade!
We believe that building strong community connections is essential for our collective well-being. The parade is a celebration of our shared humanity and a reminder that joy and connection are powerful antidotes to the stresses of modern life.
